Just go away, alright?

There's a guy at my job who thinks he's my boss. This would be okay, if he actually were my boss. It's a tricky situation because he's sort of just there all the time. I don't want to be rude to him, but it's annoying to have him try to pass work along to me when he doesn't really have the authority to do so. In the beginning (meaning about 3 weeks ago - he's new), I just went along with it and helped him out, because he was sort of floundering. I did it to be nice, not because I had to. He didn't understand the difference, so recently I've been letting him know that I have my own work to do, and that he'll have to get his stuff together without my help. He has a whole office full of underlings, but since I actually sit closer to him than they do, he's taken it into his mind that he's in charge.

The power structure at my job is weird and one's standing is never assured, but I do know this - you're not my boss, guy, so back off.
