I did it! I made that knitblog I pondered way back in 2007. If for some reason you still come here and want to know what I'm up to, you can find me at http://www.aimlessknitter.com.

Huh

So maybe I should turn this into a knitblog. I knit. I don't really blog anymore, but I guess it would be nice to have some sort of record of the things I've made (both good and bad). I guess I'll be totally set once I've figured out how to add photos to my posts.

And on the third day...

Well, Easter may be over, but the symbology was still rattling around in my head, and therefore too convenient to ignore. On the third anniversary of my last Diaryland post, I returned, elbowed some 14-year-olds out of the way, and reclaimed my forgotten bit of the Internet. Actually, I figured that since I'd updated the Diaryland blog, I should do the same for this one, since Blogger is vastly superior to Diaryland (yeah, I said it). Maybe I'll start this thing up again.

How much must it suck to be the other girl in the Pepsi/Itunes commercial? You know. The one who isn't Mandy Amano. Since I've been living in a black hole this year, I hadn't even heard of Amano until today, but apparently her face and name are suddenly everywhere. She's having an official site made (smart), and the previously linked blog about her, in which she was initally known simply as "That Pepsi Girl," helped her get a spot in May's issue of Maxim magazine. Not bad for a chick whose only credit up to that point was "Dancing Girl in Bar" in Coyote Ugly.

She's the most popular Pepsi Girl since Hallie Eisenberg, and Jesus help us all if she ends up as overexposed.

And lastly -

Dear Other Girl:
Please don't take it personally that you had approximately 4 seconds more of screen time and were unable to capitalize on it. Fame, she is a fickle bitch.

Stupid CNN

Hey, CNN, "what's up with the quotation marks?" Regardless of whether the vehicle carrying Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena was targeted, or whether it was all a terrible accident, it is indisputable that Nicola Calipari threw his body over that of Giuliana Sgrena, and quite likely that this action saved her life.

I love technology. I was talking to my boyfriend on the phone while he was on his way to pick up the sushi that he'd ordered for dinner. He was asking me how to get to the street where the restaurant is located, and it took me entirely too long to realize that I should know how to get there, since one of my elementary schools is on that street. I was looking up the address on various online map services while he was driving, and found a web site for the restaurant, which thoughtfully provided absolutely no directions. I was able to give him the phone number of said restaurant, and since I haven't heard from him in 3 minutes, I'm going to assume that all is well. I love the internets.

Just when I think that maybe I need some space from my boyfriend, or that we're not as compatible as I thought, he goes and does something that makes me realize that I have the best boyfriend in the world.

On Saturday afternoon, I was wandering around Manhattan, enjoying the briskly chilly day, and savoring the beginning of my last 24 hours in the USA. I wanted to go visit my favorite clothing store but, as I was sidetracked by the prettiness that is Laila Rowe, I never made it there. The first thing that I noticed was the handbags. They were gorgeous, and I almost couldn't choose, and none of them cost more than $20. Actually, as far as I could tell, the most expensive items in the store were scarves. I found one that I loved, and since it went well with the shirt that I'd just bought, I picked it up. I added a bag, necklace, and a pair of earrings. While there were some fabulous sales going on, I hadn't gotten any of my items from the discount areas, and was sad that I was going to have to pay full price.

Imagine my extreme happiness then, when it turned out that my stuff was on sale, and cost a lot less than I'd expected. I went home happy, wore my new clothing and accessories out that night, and had a good last night with my boyfriend and our friends.

Then, just a couple of hours after I got back to Montreal, I was talking on the phone with my boyfriend and rooting around for some scrap paper when I came across my receipt. I started to turn it over to the blank side to start my to-do list, but then I noticed that I had only been charged for three items; they hadn't charged me for the scarf. I felt pretty bad about that, since I don't like to cheat anybody. I mentioned to my boyfriend how I would have 1) pointed out the over sight to the cashiers (there were two people working on ringing up and bagging everything, and I think that's where the confusion came in) or 2) gone back and paid, had I noticed before I left the country.

Just like that, he said that he'd go for me. At first I thought he was kidding, but he was serious. He asked for the address of the store, so that he could pay for the scarf. How can you resist somebody like that?
